Real Photos. Real You. The Power of the Experience.

AI Photos. Do they feel Real?

An ad popped up in my feed recently.
Upload a selfie, and voilà—an AI app gives you a whole “photo shoot” of yourself in various styles and settings.

No session. No photographer. No experience.

    And I thought:
    Wow. We’re missing the point.

Because what that app delivers isn’t just fake—it skips the very thing that matters most.

    The experience.

AI can generate an image of you. But it can’t capture your energy.

    • It can’t calm your nerves before the shoot.
    • It won’t cheer you on when you’re feeling unsure in front of the camera.
    • It doesn’t know how to bring out your confidence, your sparkle, your fire.

And if you’ve ever done a photo session with a real photographer, you know:
    That moment matters.
It’s transformative. It’s empowering. And honestly, it’s kind of magical.

You’re not just showing up and getting your photo taken.
You’re choosing a photographer whose work you connect with.
You’re picking out outfits, discovering what actually works best for your body, your style, your vibe. You’re finding the courage to be seen. Fully. Authentically.

And if you choose a good photographer?
They will see you. I promise you that.
We are trained to see beauty—your beauty—even when you can’t.
And we can’t help but bring it out.

My passion isn’t just taking a beautiful photograph.
It’s giving you an experience that reminds you of who you are.
That shows you a version of yourself you may have never seen before—but has always been there.

    Because here’s the truth:
AI-generated photos don’t really look like you.

They’re overly smoothed, weirdly lit, and often a younger, slimmer version of you that doesn’t exist.
And while it may be tempting to skip the vulnerability and upload a selfie, you’re also skipping the transformation.

A young woman leans over a soft ottoman in the studio of Photography by Desirée. She is posed in a flattering position and has a big authentic smile. The tones of the image are all soft and harmonious in a neutral color palette.
A young man with glasses, a beard and wearing a suit with a tie has a big smile with teeth showing for his business headshot. He is very attractive and looks like he has an engaging personality.
A young spa owner dressed in all white leans against a white backdrop. Her red hair is highlighted and she looks very friendly.

    And I’ve seen this firsthand…

Several of my business headshot clients came to me after trying one of those AI apps. They showed me the generated image and said:

    • “It just didn’t feel like me.”
    • “The connection was missing.”
    • “It looked fine, but… it didn’t have that spark.”

They realized something important: a good headshot isn’t just about looking polished. It’s about showing up with presence, confidence, and authenticity.

That’s not something AI can replicate. But it’s something I specialize in.

In a world flooded with filters and fakes…

    What’s real is rare.
    What’s real is valuable.
    What’s real connects.

I’ve had clients come in after trying AI headshots. They showed me what the software created—and while it was “fine,” something was always missing. The spark. The humanity. The truth.

Whether it’s for LinkedIn or a dating app, your photo should look like you. Not an airbrushed, unrecognizable version of you.
Because the people who meet you should feel like they already know you.

So if you’ve been on the fence…
If you’ve been wondering if AI is “good enough”…
    Ask yourself:

    Do you want good enough?
Or do you want something real?
